It is the native town of Giacomo Puccini and tourists can visit his house. During the summer there is also an important opera season dedicated to him.

This small artistical and calm town is surrounded by ancient boundary of the XVI and XVII century, upon which people can stroll under the shadow of secular trees and is full of churches and old buildings.
Principal stages: the cathedral, the church of San Michele and the stroll in the ancient town.
Nearby you can visit the Royal villa of Marlia, with its wonderful gardens of the XVII century, and the villa of Camilliano of the XVI century with its gardens full of waterworks, caves and waterlilies.

Pisa is the hometown of Galileo Galilei, the famous physician, who carried out his first experiments on the gravity of the Leaning Tower in Piazza dei Miracoli.
Nearby one can visit the Carthusian Monastery of Pisa and the Romanesque basilica of San Piero a Grado.

The squares of Duomo the Uffizi museum, the bridge called Ponte Vecchio and the S. Marco museum are the obliged stages in the sightseeing of the city but there are many other things to discover.

Siena (180 km about)
It is lovely to walk without destination in its Gothic and narrow roads where are beautiful mansions. The city, situated upon three hills of a reddish clay color "terra di Siena", is surrounded by boundary wall of remarkable extension.
Most important stages: the square of Campo, where 2 times at year (on 2. July and on 16. August, takes place the famous Palio), the public Palace, the cathedral and the baptistery of S. Giovanni.
Nearby you can visit Monteriggioni, an ancient village of the XIII century.

Golfo dei Poeti (40 km. about)
The Gulf of Poets owes its name to its most regular ancients guests: Byron and Shelley.
Portovenere is situated on the cape opposite Lerici in the Gulf.
Going north along the coast, you reach the Cinque Terre, five old villages with brightly-coloured houses, steps descending steeply to the sea and roads carved through the rocks.
